If you want a glimpse of what socialism does to a country, a good place to start is Venezuela. If you, for some reason, end up at a Venezuelan hotel and need to go to the bathroom, you better have brought your own toilet paper. That’s because hotels are asking tourists to do just that.

It has been quite the year in the King household to say the least. I traveled a lot (for me) and loved every second of it. If you’re interested, you can read about a lot of 2015's adventures you came to the right place. Here are just a few examples:
The U.S. State Department recently issued a worldwide travel alert until February 24th, 2016.
“Current information suggests that ISIL (aka Da’esh), al-Qa’ida, Boko Haram, and other terrorist groups continue to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions. These attacks may employ a wide variety of tactics, using conventional and non-conventional weapons and targeting both official and private interests,” the State Department says. But what does this mean for you? I recently wrote about the days with the best deals to buy airfare for the holidays. I encourage you to check it out if you haven’t. But if you’ve already bought your tickets for travel between Thanksgiving and New Years, congratulations! You are now a small fraction of the 71% of Americans who are expected to take a trip during the last 5 weeks of the year. Which is up about 6% from last year!
But are you going to one of the top 10 destinations for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s?
Do you want to see a funny, but, in my opinion, a mostly true video about the TSA? Good, because you clicked on the right link.
Here’s a CollegeHumor video about the TSA and why they’re more annoying than effective. Maybe you’ve come across one before and had no idea who left such kind words of wisdom. Well, you’re about to meet the person who’s behind those inspirational notes.
You can’t make this stuff up! And this is just too great not to share. IHG recently reorganized their Rewards Club, and announced the name of their top tier membership level called Spire Elite. The perks for those lucky enough to be a part of the Spire Elite level include room upgrades, rollover nights, 100% bonus points on stays, and a Choice Benefit of either 25,000 points or upgrading a friend to Platinum Elite status. Oh, and then there is one other…(ahem) perk.
Everyone has them. And most try to avoid them like the plague. I’m talking about pet peeves. When traveling, people have certain things they want to experience, and don’t want to experience. The question we’ll answer here: are your pet peeves in line with other travelers’?
Thinking of traveling to Cuba now that it’s the “hot” thing to do? I mean, I'd love to learn more about the culture there. I know it used to be a great place to go way back when. My grandma honeymooned there.
Well, believe it or not, you’ll likely find it very difficult to get to the island that sits a mere 90 miles from Florida. Yeah, travel to Cuba may be in the news as the (pronounced: theeeeeee) travel destination right now, but you still won’t see many people booking their next vacations to the island nation. On it’s face, the weighing of passengers seems like overkill. And that may very well be the case. But know this: the weight and balance of a plane is very important to keeping it in the air. The most important number to keep in mind when loading a plane is the center of gravity, or CG for short. Keeping the CG within the specified limits (which is different for each kind of aircraft) is essential for a safe flight.
United is currently offering a great deal if you’re in the mood to visit Hawaii. And who wouldn’t be?
Hit the road, and bring your appetite with you! Because you’re about to go on a trip devoted to finding the best pizzas in the nation. Yes, this combines two of my favorite things: travel and pizza! TripAdvisor recently named the top 10 U.S. cities for pizza, and it’s no surprise which city finished in first place.
TripAdvisor based the results on millions of reviews from travelers. So pack up that suitcase, and grab a slice of pie. These are America’s best cities for pizza:
Work hard, play hard. Apparently, that’s not just a saying for many who travel a lot for business. It’s a reality. At least, that’s according to a recent survey done by On Call International, a company that specializes in travel risk management.
Something that backs up the results? An app called MileHi. Some are calling it the Tinder of the skies. And it's performing surprisingly well. It reportedly has been downloaded 3,000 times in only two weeks.
Yes, times are certainly a changin’. It reminds me of the classic Bob Dylan song of, pretty much, the same name.
Why, you ask? Well, you can now fly the friendly skies with weed. At least, within one state. Surprisingly, it’s not Colorado. The state where you can now do that? Oregon. Yes, you can now, apparently, fly from Portland to another airport within Oregon with ganja.
Update: Southwest has agreed to temporarily make room for Delta at Love Field until a long term solution is reached.
Things are getting weird at Love Field in Dallas. Call it a love triangle between Southwest, Delta, and the City of Dallas (which owns Love Field). And if we’ve learned anything from Hollywood, it’s that love triangles don’t end well. Naturally, the story playing out before our very eyes is getting messier and messier by the day. Let’s start at the beginning |
