Travel is coming back - and in a big way. Vacationers are boldly stepping out of their homes with suitcases in tow as they squint into the bright sunlight with the smell of summer all around them. But enough about me. In all seriousness, there are several great anecdotal examples that prove this is the case:
You can expect these kinds of trends and stories to continue - especially with over half (and climbing) of all U.S. adults vaccinated. International travel is also opening back up - though slower. So far, most of the air travel people are doing is domestic. That just tells me TSA better be prepared to screen well above 2.5 million a day when international travel starts to become a bit more regular. And the airlines better start hiring back some of the folks they laid off because I have a feeling volunteers aren't going to cut it. Bottom Line The travel industry was hit hard during the pandemic (it’s still not out of the woods just yet), but there is certainly a lot of pent up demand for travel thanks to quarantine-weary vacationers. People are sick of being home. So they will travel. You’ll be hard-pressed to find good deals on flights domestically (at least for the summer) but you can still find a plethora of good deals for international travel as the rest of the world tries to catch up to the U.S. when it comes to opening back up. So get out there and enjoy your summer of travel. It’ll do you good.
