Sick of Packing? New Company Working to Change How we Travel

When going on vacation, what’s near the top of the list of things people worry about? The answer you’re looking for is packing. Just Google the phrase “how to pack” and you’ll find over 500 million results. My pieces about packing are among them: Packing Tips That’ll Save you Money and Learn to Pack Like a Boss.
Whether you’re worried about the airlines breaking/damaging your bag, don’t want to deal with packing (or unpacking), or just don’t want to take the time, a new company has your back. It’s called UnPack. You may have seen them on Shark Tank.

Their basic goal is to save you from having to travel with luggage. All you have to do is create an account, input your sizes, and tell them what kind of things you plan on doing during your travels. Then, once you arrive at your destination, your luggage will be waiting for you at your hotel. And no, it’s not new clothing. It’ll be used (or as they like to say, gently worn), but professionally cleaned before you ever come close to it.

Bottom line

It’s not a bad idea. Especially with more and more airlines gouging you for more money (the most recent headline? United wants to charge you to use the overhead bins). I’m sure some people won’t like the idea of wearing used clothing, and that’s totally understandable. But it could end up saving you money. Packs from UnPack start at $40 which is cheaper than checking your bag twice on most airlines. I would not be surprised if more companies like this start to pop up.
