9 Podcasts you Should Consider for Your Next Trip

It’s been awhile since I last talked about podcasts. And my list (from back then) could use an update. So I figured it’s about time I did just that.

Here are my current podcast recommendations for your next trip:

Truth and Justice with Bob Ruff

If it's not my favorite, it’s certainly near the top. This podcast is about, like the title insinuates, truth and justice. The host, Bob Ruff, works to get those wrongfully committed of a crime out of jail. He feels so strongly about it that he quit his day job as a fire chief, to pursue his passion of truth and justice.

Undisclosed

Similar to Truth and Justice, this podcast is hosted by a team of lawyers that, much like Bob, take on, and investigate cases that may deal with the wrongly convicted. During the course of a season they walk us through their investigation as it unfolds.

Criminal

If you like strange but true stories about crime, you’ll love this series. The stories are about crime, but like they say on the website, not the “if it bleeds, it leads,” kind of crime. My favorite episode is about a Pappy Van Winkle (whiskey) heist.

The Way I Heard it With Mike Rowe

This is, by far, one of the most clever podcasts out there. Mike Rowe puts together 5-7 minute short mysteries about people you’ve heard of before, but might not know their history. For those with a short attention span, this podcast is perfect for you. If you don’t have a short attention span, wait a few weeks until there are several you can listen to. You’ll thank me later :)

Five Hundy by Midnight

Fan of Las Vegas? This podcast is for you. You’ll learn all the secrets of the strip, what downtown Vegas is all about, and the latest news about Sin City. If you’re planning a trip to Vegas, or just love the city, you’ll love this podcast.

Vice Lounge Online

As they say on their website, it’s all about casino gaming, premium cigars, and adult beverages. If you’re a fan of any, this is for you. They review drinks/different types of alcohol as well as cigars, and talk about the latest casino news.

Stuff You Missed in History Class

You guessed it. It’s about stuff you missed in history class. All of them true. Like the history of Butter v. Margarine, or who the Unsinkable Violet Jessop is (a fascinating story).

Stuff You Should Know

From Woolly Mammoths to Evel Knievel. The two hosts tell you about stuff you should know. Simple, informative, and well produced.

The Adam Carolla Show

You all know the name. And you probably also recognize some of the things he’s done in the past. Like Loveline, and The Man Show, for example. Well, his podcast is one of the most downloaded in history.

Bottom line

There’s a lot of good stuff going on in the podcast world. But you may notice something about this list - as did I - which disappointed me. There really aren’t any good travel podcasts. And trust me, I’ve looked. I may have to fix that…
