So you’re tired of the cold weather? Can’t say that I blame you. Logically, then, you’d love to get a break from the bone-chilling cold, right? Unfortunately, there’s that four letter word that strikes fear in the hearts of those who are either starting, trying to start, or growing their family: Zika. Yes, the virus is something you should still consider when picking a vacation destination.

When going on vacation, what’s near the top of the list of things people worry about? The answer you’re looking for is packing. Just Google the phrase “how to pack” and you’ll find over 500 million results. My pieces about packing are among them: Packing Tips That’ll Save you Money and Learn to Pack Like a Boss.
Traveling anytime during the year takes planning, patience and precision. And it's especially true during the busy holiday travel season. That’s when airlines up their ticket prices and limit award availability, planes are always crowded, and delays always seem to be are at their highest.
I have some good news though! There are ways around most of those problems. And the following five tips are a great way to start. Not only can you use miles and points to save money, but you’ll be able to book that Christmas vacation of yours without even breaking a sweat! I love Thanksgiving. I love seeing my family, the food, the football, the full feeling you get after you’re done stuffing your face. I love everything about it. Yes, even the travel. I know: traveling for the holidays is a pain in the ass. Or, at least, it certainly can be. But I don’t mind it. And most of the reason is because I’ve figured out when the best time to fly is.
It’s been awhile since I last talked about podcasts. And my list (from back then) could use an update. So I figured it’s about time I did just that.
Here are my current podcast recommendations for your next trip: Packing for a trip is like an art. Some people know what they have to do but can’t. Others can. And then there are those who throw a bunch of different colored clothes into a bag and call it a night. And when it’s all said and done, it looks different to everyone.
This post is about the different kinds of “canvases” there are to choose from - specifically carry-ons - and what kind you should strongly consider bringing with you during your trip. So you’re planning a trip, and you think you have everything you need. Your bags are packed, your passport is in hand, you’ve got an unlocked cell phone and plan on buying a SIM card once you land, and your wallet has one or two no foreign transaction fee credit cards in it. You’re all set, right?
Wrong. I mean, sure, you could go and have a lovely trip. But there's one other thing you’ll want to pack (besides a little patience) that’ll help keep you sane on the plane rides, and in the hotels, hostels, or Airbnb houses you plan on staying at. And that, my friends, is a good set of headphones. In the first two parts of this series (part one and part two) I told you everything you need to know if you bring a smartphone and/or tablet to a foreign country with you. It’s something that many people have questions about. If you haven’t read that, go ahead and do that now.
This post will be about the kind of credit card you’ll need while crisscrossing the globe. Seriously, though! What’s the point in going - if you can’t bring back some foreign treasure, or try the foreign cuisine - without being penalized by your bank for using your card outside of the U.S.? In part one of this series, we tackled all the good a cell phone and/or a tablet can do during your next trip overseas.
In order to use that smartphone to post those amazing pictures on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat (or whatever other social media website/app there is), you need to know how to use the data your smartphone can access without that costing you an arm and a leg. This post will let you in on the secret to actually using your phone without going broke. Planning a trip overseas can be fun, while at the same time, be intimidating. Especially for those who don’t do it often.
What should you bring? Some things are obvious like a passport (which is why you won’t see that on this list). But some of the other travel essentials aren’t so obvious. I mean, can you use the same credit cards you use in the states? How do I set up my phone for international travel? The wall plugs are different?! What does that mean? The list of questions can be nearly endless. Yes, it’s true: planning vacations can make you happy. But sometimes life just gets in the way, and you may not have all the time you wish you had to plan that vacay! And, on the occasion, you may wish you could come up with your next vacation plan, budget and all, in one click.
Not surprisingly, Google is here to help (when aren’t they??)! The powerful search engine recently came out with a new mobile-only vacation planner they’re calling Destinations on Google. Think of it as an online travel agent. This new tool can help you narrow down where to go, when to go there, and how much it’ll cost. How to launch Google’s trip planner It’s time to put the school books away, hide the sweaters, and dust off those bathing suits. The summer travel season is upon us. You can tell based on the disgustingly long security lines at many of the major airports. Yeah, you’re certainly not gonna be alone in your travel plans: Americans plan on spending nearly $83 billion this summer. 5.5% more than in 2015 when booking vacations online.
I’m sure many of you have already (at least) started to plan your summer vacation. But, as the saying goes, are you getting the most bang for your buck? Sometimes it’s hard to tell. Is it a better deal to go to Las Vegas or New York? How about Orlando or Los Angeles? Dallas or Denver? Do you fly with the best of airlines? Or are you a passenger of some of the worst?
The good news? You will soon know the answer. The bad? Many millions will come to the realization that they pay "the worst" of airlines to ferry them around the country. WalletHub recently came out with a list of the best (and/or worst) airlines in the country for 2016. Here are their findings: Las Vegas is a magical place. I mean where else do you throw $20s, $50s, and $100s away like they grow on trees? I was rudely reminded of that during my last trip to Vegas a few weeks ago. Do you know the answer?! It almost seems like it’s a question with no correct response. This airline says one thing, that airline says another. It’s no wonder no one seems to know when is a good time to arrive at the airport. What time is the right time? Turns out, whether you’re flying domestic or international, or have to check luggage or not, there are a few times you should remember: |
